This is a malt that produces dark, aromatic and flavourful worts with pronounced sweet and nutty notes and is a common ingredient in Belgian style ales. It can also be mixed in small amounts with other malts (up to 20%) for use in all varieties of lagers and ales to enhance the maltiness of the brew.
